Stellar Types & the H-R Diagram

This sub-section of the Stars section of the site discusses how stars are classified as well as a few special types of stars and star systems.

The first part, Spectral Classification, is how stars were initially categorized by color and their spectra.

The second part, the Hertzsprung-Russell Diagram, is one of the most important ways to display information about stars. It is also sometimes referred to as a "Color-Magnitude Diagram."

The third page in this sub-section discusses binary star systems.

The fourth talks about the five main types of variable stars - T Tauri, Cepheid, RR Lyrae, Mira, and Cataclysmic.
